The Women's Bioethics Project (WBP) is an independent, non-profit, non-partisan, public-policy think tank devoted to research, analysis, education, and publication. The Women's Bioethics Project is headquartered in Seattle with worldwide affiliates. Under the fiscal sponsorship of the Women's Funding Alliance, WBP is able to accept 501(c)(3) tax-deductible contributions.
WBP promotes the thoughtful application of biotechnology to improve the status of women's lives and seeks to protect vulnerable populations by anticipating unintended consequences, safeguarding women's bodies from harm, and ensuring that women's life priorities are recognized.
Women bring a vital perspective to all issues that affect society and it is critical for that perspective to be included in all bioethical-related public policy and debate.
WBP brings women's voices and experiences to bear on ethical issues in health care and biotechnology, both national and international, through scholarship, reports, legislative testimony, articles, public conferences and debates, media coverage, and a publicly accessible website. WBP serves as a bridge between scholarship and policymaking, bringing new knowledge to the attention of decision makers and affording scholars, scientists, and corporate leaders greater insight into public policy issues. Key issues include stem cell research, cloning, and genetic testing, as well as broader women's health concerns.
