Untitled Document
An internationally recognized bioethicist and
WBP board member, Jonathan Moreno writes a provocative essay entitled
"In
the Wake of Katrina: Has 'Bioethics' Failed?", which takes aim at
the failure of bioethics to tackle issues of distributive justice and
public health. Worth reading.
The international law firm Milbank, Tweed, Hadley
& McCloy LLP has agreed to provide a range of pro bono legal services
to the Women’s Bioethics Project, including legal research, analysis, and
counsel. We approached Milbank because we wanted to have access to some of
the most creative and forward-thinking legal minds in the world, and we are
delighted to have their assistance. Milbank brings a global perspective that
is critical when considering bioethical issues and their impact on women.
A number of Milbank partners have volunteered their time on this new collaboration,
and the effort will be lead by Richard Wight and Elizabeth Hardin of the New
York office and Sally Agel of the Los Angeles office. Thank you Milbank Tweed!
Thanks to the work of WBP scholar Linda MacDonald
Glenn and board member Sue Trinidad, we now have our own lively and informative
bioethics blog at http://womensbioethics.blogspot.com.
We are seeking bioethics-savvy guest bloggers, particularly voices from outside
the United States. First time bloggers are welcome. To contribute, please
contact our blog administrator Linda MacDonald Glenn at lindaglenn@biomedlaw.com,
who will be happy to get you started. We also want to acknowledge the Appignani
Foundation which provided seed money to develop the blog interface.

and public relations experience, from major corporations to minute start-ups.

practice, was most recently a senior vice president in the 175-person
Seattle office of DDB Worldwide.
We invite you to learn more about the Women’s
Bioethics Project and how you can get involved. We are holding a cocktail
party with WBP founder Kathryn Hinsch on Monday, October 17th at 6pm
at the Manhattan, NY home of one of our supporters.
